Canada Centre for Inland Waters, Burlington, Ontario A leading centre for water research, generating environmental information and knowledge about the Great Lakes. Organizations within the Centre are concerned with environmental research and development, as well as monitoring, resource management, charting, and coastal and harbour engineering. Environment Canadas National Water Research Institute NWRI is the largest freshwater research entity in Canada. NWRI, National Water Quality Monitoring and staff at Centre SaintLaurent in Montreal make up the Water Science and Technology Directorate, and work together to generate the scientific knowledge needed to sustain Canada’s water resources and freshwater ecosystems.Environment Canadas water scientific and technical knowledge is available here for users of water S&T, including governments, environmental regulators, policy and decisionmakers, landuse planners, researchers, and industry.
