Wisconsin Environmental Laboratories Association Serves commercial environmental labs doing business in Wisconsin by informing and motivating members to do a better job which in turn results in benefits for members and the environmental industry. In 1978, a small group of environmental laboratory owners and managers met in the basement of a bank in Fond du Lac. Under the leadership of Art Kaplan, they laid the framework for an organization to promote their ideals of an emerging profession.Since its incorporation in 1984, the Wisconsin Environmental Laboratories Association WELA has been serving the commercial enviromental labs doing business in Wisconsin. Meetings are held quarterly in Madison to provide a central location as well as convenient interfacing with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and other government agencies.WELA is a professional, not for profit Association formed specifically for the betterment of its members and the industry of which they are a part. Its prime function is to inform and motivate its members so that they can do a better job which in turn results in benefits for the member and the environmental industry. Its purposes are stated in its Constitution and ByLaws.
